For most companies new sales leads are the lifeblood of business. That's because, no matter how well you take care of them, customers fall away by attrition. They must be replaced. Additionally, companies need more business, more sales, more profits. Aside from selling incrementally to current customers, new customers play an important role in generating new sales volume.

When you've been in business a long time you benefit from word of mouth advertising. Sales come in from many directions. It's not always possible to credit specific sources. You deserve all this new business. However, it's seldom enough to meet your marketing objectives. You need to look for new customers - go after them aggressively.

There's a war out there. So you advertise in many media. You use TV, radio, newspapers, magazines, direct mail, telemarketing, exhibitions, seminars, and so on. Thankfully the leads come in. The process has become too cumbersome, too inefficient.

You can't get the analyses you need when you need them. Leads are not being followed up in time. Leads are being lost. They cost a fortune and yet many seem to have fallen through the cracks. People are calling to find out what's going on.
